An article just came out yesterday that it’s taking 3 - 4 months for renewals to be processed. Once I get my record locator that the passport has been processed, I’ll reach out to my congressperson’s office so that they can expedite my passport back to me. I also paid postage for overnight delivery BACK to me. I sent my passport (and triple checked the check was attached) on July 14. No dice on getting a room credit because I booked the resort through a travel agency. I didn’t want to chance getting in/out the country with a passport that expired in < 6 months so I just canceled my flight. I did not receive the letter until July 13 (I live in Houston and the agency is 3 hours away in Irving so it should’ve been a 2 - 3 day mailing) and my flight to Jamaica left on July 15. ![]() They wrote me on July 4 stating application could not be processed due to “fees not received”. I can think of 30 things they could do to make everyone's lives easier but. If it is not, you'll see nothing happen at all via credit card or services.Īll in all. If it is, your bank account will get charged and you can be assured of maybe a few weeks early if you're lucky. However they don't charge your card right then and there - they check if it's even possible at all. Expedited service may make it about 4 weeks earlier currently and will run you an additional $78 or so (I forget the exact number but that's about correct). Here's some additional info (that you didn't ask for) - they're currently stating it's 18 weeks from when it arrives at their office (meaning in my case, that would be the 05/14 date and NOT the 06/04 date). The guy was super friendly and set me up with (possible) expedited services. I was on hold today starting around 10am for 2 hours and 48 mins. This morning I did the above system and got through after about 4 attempts which I was surprised by. I tried all day yesterday with similar experiences as those on this thread (calling 87, pressing 1 three times, listening to the robot for 30 seconds and then busy signal, repeat steps till I was bored of doing so). I wanted to contact and see if I could add in expedited services (to do so you have to call, no other way). ![]() According to the passport services online, they processed it / put it in their system on 06/04. I submitted my passport application on 05/10 it arrived at their office via mail on 05/14. ![]() Thought I better record my experience for those of you curious on this subject. ![]() First rep said I need to be helped by some other part of agency, second rep says "oh, my computer is down, I have to transfer you to someone else." Then WHY answer the phone in the first place? I am so frustrated. Will update with developments.3 and half hours later, still on the phone and no further progress. I am really nervous it's been lost within the agency. Predicted wait time is over 90 minutes! I sent in my renewal over 4 weeks ago and they haven't cashed check or logged in the application on the status page!ĥ/7/21 Sent mine by USPS tracking5/13/21 USPS tracking confirms delivery6/14/21 Nothing, zero, zilch on status page. When I finally get through, the prompts continue. Took repeated calls and going through the prompts many times to get to a hold position instead of busy.
